Working for our community. Collaborating for a brighter future.

The Washington Park Chamber of Commerce, an emerging non-profit is dedicated to building a stronger Washington Park on Chicago’s South Side by supporting local businesses, attracting investment, and creating opportunities that benefit residents and community institutions.

We help local businesses increase visibility, reach new customers, and connect with resources and partnerships that support growth. Through community events, business promotion, and advocacy, we showcase Washington Park’s assets, encourage residents to shop locally, and create opportunities for businesses and institutions to work together.

Our goal is to help local businesses grow, strengthen neighborhood commerce, attract new economic opportunities, and foster a community where residents have access to a wider range of goods, services, and opportunities close to home.

“A community distinctively enriched with charm of yesterday, today, and tomorrow ”

Discover Washington Park

Located on Chicago’s historic South Side, approximately seven miles south of the Loop, Washington Park is a community shaped by a rich history, a strong neighborhood identity, and a deep connection to one of the city’s most treasured public spaces.

The community takes its name from Washington Park, the expansive recreational area along its eastern border, stretching from 51st to 60th Streets near Cottage Grove Avenue. For generations, the park has served as an important gathering place for recreation, leisure, and community life for South Side residents.

Washington Park has also attracted national attention as a potential site for major civic events, including Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympics, which proposed the park as the location for the Olympic Stadium and opening and closing ceremonies. Although Chicago was not selected, the bid brought international attention to the neighborhood’s potential.

Today, Washington Park continues to stand at the intersection of history, culture, and opportunity. Its proximity to Jackson Park and the Obama Presidential Center presents opportunities to strengthen regional connections, encourage investment, support local businesses, and showcase the neighborhood’s unique assets.
